Beers and Burgers
My recent posts have been art related thanks to the scintillating array of exhibitions that have kicked off 2016, however there is plenty more going on in my life that I'd like to share.
Tomorrow I have a friend visiting from Germany and when he visits we always grab a burger. I'm fairly rubbish at suggesting eateries as I view him as a burger connoisseur of sorts, but this time I think I've done a good job. Before we eat however we have some time to kill and fortunately the guys at Beach London have something special brewing that goes extremely well with burgers.
Beach London and Camden Town Brewery present: ‘Beer at Beach’
Coinciding with their installation at Craft Beer Rising, Truman Brewery, Camden Town Brewery have teamed up with local Shoreditch design and illustration gallery, Beach London, on an exhibition celebrating the process of making beer.
Beach and Camden have invited a diverse selection of illustrators, designers and artists to illustrate each step of the beer-making process: from growing the hops, to finishing the beer. Artists include Rob Flowers, Thomas Slater, Maria Ines Gul, Jay Cover, Charlotte Mei, Jay Wright and many more. Alongside the artworks, there’ll be new editions – including pin badges, patches, tees and more.
Perhaps most excitingly, to celebrate the launch of the exhibition, Camden will be bringing their micro-brewery, to Beach’s Cheshire St. space, and are working on an exclusive beer – at the gallery – which’ll be available for sampling during the exhibition!
Beer Street opens on February 19th 2016 and runs until 28th February.
The private viewing is from 6-9pm which is perfect for us. Having walked past a few times and had recommendations from a couple of people I've booked a table at Red's True BBQ in Shoreditch. As a result of the restaurant's growing notoriety (it has six locations in the UK with more planned) and with no shortage of patrons on the streets of Shoreditch on any given evening, I've had to book our table for 8 o'clock. Since making the booking on Monday I've spent every waking moment, and even once in my sleep, thinking about their Donut Burger. I made this known to Red's via Twitter and received this back from them.
I feel like Action Bronson on an episode of 'Fuck, That's Delicious', and promise to report back assuming I don't suffer a massive coronary immediately after consuming the meal. After all, they didn't specify how my life would be changed.
