CREATION Summer 2016 Collection

Image
"Oracle: A person considered to be a source of wise counsel or prophetic opinions." definition from the Merriam-Webster dictionary In case you haven't been paying attention lately let me give you a brief summary of events that have dominated my social feeds. Leicester City won the Premier League despite battling relegation the season prior. As the fight to win the 2016 presidential election heats up the American people seem to be completely losing their shit, whilst in the UK the nation is being divided on whether or not to exit the EU. Kanye West appeared on daytime TV show Ellen to feed his insatiable need for attention because like Donald Trump , Kanye knows that you have to make news every day. It doesn't even matter what your message is you just have to hold on to the public's consciousness, ask Bob Lefsetz . If you've grown weary of football, politics and the inevitability of Kanye being Kanye then join me in the respite that is the Summer

TOMMY JEANS CAPSULE COLLECTION

Image
It's fairly common knowledge that I worked at Tommy Hilfiger HQ in London for some five plus years. It's lesser known that I modeled for Hilfiger on the side despite not having the good looks, washboard stomach, swimmer's shoulders that you associate with their ad campaigns. OK so I exaggerated a bit, I used to model jeans for the sales appointments when the hired models weren't available. I'm sticking to my claim regardless. Over the past few weeks I somehow managed to miss not only the launch but any mention of Tommy Jeans , " a Hilfiger Denim capsule collection celebrating the most iconic Tommy Hilfiger styles from the ‘90s ". As intended this takes me back to when I was first fell in love with the brand. Back when I regularly  visited the London flagship store in Sloan Square when they had a F1 Ferrari in the foyer. I t's also an appreciative nod to the days when hip-hop artists like Grand Puba,   Treach ,  Raekwon , Method Man and Snoop Doggy

Lion of Judah Crewneck

In typical British fashion we've had our first weekend of glorious sunshine followed immediately by two days of showers. Apart from reminding us that we live on an island of inconsistent seasonal weather, it also emphasizes that we require something for the occasional glitch and chilly post BBQ evenings. My solution to this comes from a brand I've had a watchful eye on for a little while now, Noah . Noah is cross-generational bridging youth culture and classic culture. Our name was born out of a deep reverence for the aquatic sphere, while at the same time, serving as a nod to the last of the pre-flood Patriarchs. Our motif is derived from the iconic Knights Templar cross, which not only connects the brand to its maritime roots, but further exemplifies Noah’s commitment to and belief in the virtue of the outlaw. Perfectly suited for Spring it's made from rugby fabric fashioned into a crewneck sweatshirt with the Lion of Judah logo printed prominently on the chest.

AN AMERICAN ASTRONAUT IN LONDON - Scott Listfield

Image
" I paint astronauts and, sometimes, dinosaurs. " - Scott Listfield I've never understood people who say they don't believe in coincidence. A coincidence is a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances which have no apparent causal connection with each other. Like the infamous poster on the wall of of Mulder's office in X-files, I want to believe.  For example  I got the latest newsletter from StolenSpace regarding a new show by London Police , which doesn't fit with this but I read on and exhibiting alongside them is an artist I hadn't heard of before now*, Scott Listfield . What happens next will blow your mind ! Ok it won't, but it's interesting. I recently purchased a ten year old Billionaire Boys Club sweatshirt, from Season 0 so a grail if you will. If you are unfamiliar with the logo on this sweatshirt, peep it below.  Then I began reading The Martian by Andy Weir . I'm very close to finishing it now and it's

SHONEN KNIFE 35th Anniversary UK & Eire 2016 Tour

Image
“ When I finally got to see them live, I was transformed into a hysterical nine-year-old girl at a Beatles concert .” Kurt Cobain This quote from the Nirvana front man is on every press release for Japanese Punk-Pop trio Shonen Knife  that I've found online, and for very good reason. Lucky for me the band are currently on tour celebrating their 35th Anniversary, so I had the pleasure of finding out why.  I spent the week before their London date mostly on my ass with a virus and my first venture out of the house was to Dingwalls to see the group hailed by critics as the heirs of Nirvana . Sonically there is merit to this, however they offer a completely different dimension through their upbeat melodies and catchy pop lyrics. Within the first thirty seconds of their opening track I knew I was in for something totally surreal and out of this World.  No amount of plays on Soundcloud prepared me for the complete and unadulterated joy I felt throughout their entire set.
