With Respect

I had a very brief conversation recently with legendary photographer Glen E Friedman about my C/S tattoo. It caught me off guard actually and I mumbled something pretty lame and not at all what I wanted to say which prompted me to do this post. I thought about this before, but I had stopped feeling like I needed to explain why I got it done. I first became aware of the C/S symbol through seeing it tattooed on people, specifically work done by artists I admire and follow. Then I saw that a book was being published called 'Con Safos - Chicano Style Tattoo Art ' with the cover illustration done by Chuey Quintanar, and a website launched called cslashs.com so I checked it out. The site offered first hand experience from artists like Chaz Bojorquez, Mike Giant,   and tattooists like Latisha Wood, Ivano Natale and Franco Vescovi. Perhaps most importantly there is an interview with Frank Sifuentes, founder of Con Safos magazine. He explains the different ways p...

Welcome To The Magic

The 9th International London Tattoo Convention happened this past weekend with over three hundred artists from around the World, plus entertainment, merchandise stalls, food and drink. This event is NOT billed as The Happiest Place On Earth nor will you find the tag line Too Much Magic For Just One Day. However, this is well and truly my version of Disneyland and exactly how I would describe it. This was my sixth visit to the convention and my interest and excitement has never waned. Not a great impression but I promise you it's all with good will and the best intention. I should have been behaving like this in my teens and not as I get ever closer to forty, but this is how it is. I was accompanied by my Brother this year and set out to visit a handful of artists and try and see some of the entertainment that we usually...

Wishing Well 2013

To start the New Year off with a wish list might seem a bit lame, but it should serve to keep my bank balance the right side of zero.     My plan as ever with the blog is to Entertain, Explore the world of Style through fashion, music and even sports, and achieve Better understanding of myself along the way. Expect plenty of questions with no answers, truths, desires be they for clothing, art or anything really and a healthy dose of T&A thrown in for good measure. So let's get down to it. I figured if I set out the things I've had my eyes on last year and some future attractions too I can work towards either acquiring or eliminating them from this list and my mind. Having this list somewhere physical(ish) and out of my head will help me to make better decisions and enable me to make plans. My mantra will be "Good things come to those that wait, and hopefully via the Sale section". So, expect updates and amendments to this list monthly. At the very least...
